Since most of the stops on my National Park Wish List are out west, today I thought I'd host a giveaway for the region's native - an applique of Blanche the Buffalo. During our recent trip to Yellowstone National Park, we saw many of Blanche's cousins. Hundreds. Here are two of them. Meet Pete and Freddy.
To enter the contest: Leave a comment below about your favorite national park experience (OR) leave your own national park wish list. (Don't forget to leave contact info in case you win.) You can also get an additional entry by sharing the contest on Facebook or Twitter. Just leave a comment telling me you've done so for the extra entry. On Tuesday, 4/26, I'll randomly pick a winner, and you'll get to pick the applique color of your choice.
If you win, you can sew Blanche onto your backpack for your next wilderness adventure.
I've been to Cape Hatteras and Kitty Hawk (in NC), Manassas National Battlefield Park and Prince William Forest (in VA), but I want to go to California! I want to see Redwood National Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Death Valley. Really, I think I could take every vacation to a national park and be in heaven!
ReplyDeletePS. I shared this on facebook! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't think about Cape Hattera & Kitty Hawk! There are so many things considered a national park that I bet I am forgetting places I've been. Of course, I haven't been out there since I was a kid. I'd love to go back!
ReplyDeleteOnce when I was camping at Custer (State) Park in SD I thought we let a buffalo inside the fenced off camping area. It was dark... and it was a boulder.
ReplyDeleteThe appliques are so cool. Fun to contemplate which national parks are top of list. I think my top five wish-list parks are: Yosemite, Saguaro, Denali, Olympic, and Crater Lake.

I've been to so many great parks on both coasts and in-between but I'd have to say my favorite is the Cuyahoga Valley NP which I grew up in the heart of, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Picnics with my mom and sister, hikes with my grandfather and cousins or taking my childhood dog Erin out for a run. I'm getting way too sentimental thinking about it. Amazing park with amazing memories.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to the Grand Canyon!!! I've been incredibly fortunate to visit several national parks and historical sites and every single one of my visits has been memorable and incredible! I hope to visit the Grand Canyon next! :-) And I will share this on Facebook right now!
ReplyDeleteand oh yea - my email address is asobel@nationalparks.org
ReplyDeleteMy family had been up in Western North Carolina all week and the grand finale was to visit Chimney Rock National Park on our way back home. Well, as we packed up the car and made the drive over, the sky got really dark and gloomy and the wind began blowing wildly. As we approached Chimney Rock in our car we were surrounded by tall forrest trees. My mother took one look all the way up the steep rock formation and got spooked. She drove right past it and said "we're not going" and drove 4 hours straight home.
ReplyDeleteEven though I have a slight fear of heights & slight claustrophobia like my mom, I would still like to visit Chimney Rock someday!
